The Diploma of Shiatsu & Oriental Health

HLT 50207 National Health Training Package

A one and a half year Training Program accredited by the Tropical North Institute of TAFE. The second intake of students commences September 25, 2008 and goes to December 18, 2009.

The Diploma in Shiatsu and Oriental Health is a one and a half year training program in Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies, which includes the Shiatsu Certificate IV level.

The Diploma provides indebt and comprehensive knowledge and practice in 4 styles of Shiatsu (Pressure Point Therapy) Barefoot, Do In, Namikoshi and Zen Shiatsu. Traditional Chinese medicine, cupping, moxabustion and oriental diagnostics are intregal parts of the course.

The advanced techniques lay focus on the diagnostic skills of analysing and interpreting of dynamic and static patterns in the human body, thereby acquiring highly developed skills in treating both physical, energetic and mental /emotional conditions.

Subjects include: Acupressure, Auricular Therapy, Body-Mind Interaction, Electro-Acupuncture, Dietary Interaction, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Personal Development, Body Work exercise programs i.e. Breathing techniques, Chi Gong, Yoga, Counselling and Jin Shin Do (Body Mind Connection).

Students are required to actively hold a journal and are encouraged to have a private health maintenance program. After completion, graduates hold a double qualification and will have the skills and language to bridge complementary and mainstream health modalities.

Graduates will have extensive skills to work alongside other professional in the Health, Wellness and Life Style industry either in private practice or in multi-disciplinary clinical settings.
