The Diploma in Shiatsu and Oriental Health provides indebt and comprehensive knowledge and practice in 4 styles of Shiatsu (Pressure Point Therapy) Barefoot, Do In, Namikoshi and Zen Shiatsu. Traditional Chinese medicine, cupping, moxabustion and oriental diagnostics like hara, tongue, meridian and pulse diagnosis are intregal parts of the course.
The advanced techniques lay focus on the diagnostic skills of analysing and interpreting of dynamic and static patterns in the human body, thereby acquiring highly developed skills in treating both physical, energetic and mental /emotional conditions.
Other subjects include: Acupressure, Body-Mind Interaction,Classical Shiatsu, Dietary Interaction (Macrobiotics), Traditional Chinese Medicine, Personal Development, Exercise programs i.e. Breathing techniques, Chi Gong, Yoga, Counselling and Jin Shin Do (Body Mind Connection). Bach Flower Remedies, Traditional Thai Medical Massage, Tui Na Massage, Practices for the elderly, pregnancy, and the corporate setting.
All practical components and the Clinic days will be delivered during 16x 5 day Residential Intensives which are held in Cairns QLD and a 7-day Rainforest Retreat in the Daintree Rainforest QLD ~ A weekly on line class on SKYPE and a weekly private session by phone or on line. (Opportunity exist for NZ students to participate and have a monthly NZ Face to Face Residential depending on student numbers ~ 8 students minimum.)
All core modules; Develop professional expertise/ Communicate effectively with clients /Manage a practice/ Make referrals to other health care professionals when appropriate/ Use specific health terminology to communicate effectively/ Maintain an effective health work environment Contribute to OHS processes /Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work/ Confirm physical health status /Analyse health information /Reflect and improve upon professional practice/ Implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements... will be delivered on line with the help of workbooks - and workbook and online assessments.
All assessments and asignments are done within the pace of each individual students at home and /or during the residentials.
Students are required to actively hold a journal and are encouraged to have a private health maintenance program. After completion, graduates hold a valuable qualification and will have the skills and language to bridge complementary and mainstream health modalities.
Graduates will have extensive skills to work alongside other professional in the Health, Wellness and Life Style industry either in private practice or in multi-disciplinary clinical settings.

HLT 40202 Certificate IV in Shiatsu is embedded within the Diploma
