A student asked; Are you a good teacher? The teacher replied; Are you a good student? A cup can only be filled if it is empty. One can only drink if there is something in the cup. |

Founder & Director of Zendo Health
Nirvair Kaur Curtis - de Ruiter
Hon. D. C.M Dip. O.M B.Psyc.Nirvair Kaur’s first interest in the Oriental Philosophy awoke in 1969 as a young Yoga student. It was Yoga,Tai Chi and Meditation that soon became a large part of her life when in the early 1970’s she was instructed as one of the first meditation instructors.
The Oriental Medical practices of Shiatsu and Macrobiotics were the centre of life when she in 1980 left Holland for a journey through India and other Asian countries after which she arrived in Australia in 1982. Completing officially a decade of study in 1985.
My first introduction to yoga later became one of the strongest influences in three and a half decades of what I now call Body & Mind Interaction.
From 1974 to1983 Kundalini Yoga Philosophy was the main modality of my focus, along side Shiatsu and Macrobiotics, by S. Masunaga and G.Oshawa. There were many intensive training courses in the above during those years, mainly in the old way of one to one instruction and in the original master & pupil relation, but it was in 1983 when I received formal (for the west) training at the College of Natural Therapies in Sydney NSW...while one year later I met Vipassana Meditation Master Dhiravamsa.
Different aspects of the Eastern Philosophy were by than synthesizing into the understanding of the depths of our Mind and Body Interaction, The understanding of non-separateness of Body & Mind. The concept of Nama Rupa in the Buddhist teachings.
I came to realize that Body Work, without a deeper understanding of the content of our mind, our early family structure...the place we grew up in...and its impact on our bodies, was like sailing a strong and beautiful boat, BUT one without sails...IT LOOKED GOOD, BUT IT DIDN'T GO ANYWHERE!!
In the following years I studied the Buddhist Philosophy and received a Vipassana meditation facilitator training in 1988-89 @ the Insight Foundation in Friday Harbor San Juan USA under the guidance of Master Dhiravamsa
Since than I have lectured worldwide, practice & teach privately at several Institutes around Australia and run at present Zendo Health - a centre for Oriental Health & Lifestyle in Cairns North Queensland."
Nirvair Kaur would be one of a handful of therapists in Australia with the knowledge and skills to integrate eastern modalities with a western lifestyle. Her heritage and understanding are at the cutting edge of health science.
